IOWA REAL ESTATE SALESPERSON FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Iowa Real Estate Salesperson License Requirements
  • 18 years old.
  • Applicants are not eligible for a license if they have been rejected for licensure in any state within 12 months prior to applying.
  • Fingerprints and background check must be submitted before applying for the license.
  • Salesperson applicants must have a sponsoring broker.
  • All applicants must provide proof of Errors & Omissions Insurance.
  • Salespersons must take 36 credit hours of pre-licensure classes, including 12 hours of Buying Practices, 12 hours of Listing Practices & 12 hours of Developing Professionalism and Ethical Practices.
  • Broker applicants must complete at least 60 hours of approved real estate education during 24 months before exam, plus the salesperson education requirement.
  • Broker applicant needs to have been actively engaged in real estate for at least 24 months preceding date of the application, or possess approved equivalent experience.
  • Pass state examination.
